World famous author Michael Nicolson has written his autobiography.
The book is receiving great reviews worldwide.
The author was born in Glasgow in 1948 and his first novel,
Rockyboy2 The Quest for The Million tells how he struggled to survive
the poverty of the Glasgow slums
He was born in Glasgow, the second eldest of a family of seven children living in a single end flat in Govan. The cramped overcrowded conditions were common in those days and the children made their own entertainment.
His father Donald Nicolson worked in the John Browns shipyard, a hard man from the mean streets of Glasgow and a staunch n Rangers supporter, he would gamble and drink his wages away while his wife Carol Nicolson struggled to find food and clothing for the seven children, four boys and three girls. The early years were tough and the first chapter is a riveting read, tinged with compassion sadness and humour. If you live in Glasgow you must buy this book if only for that first wonderful chapter. The story follows Michael right through from birth to the present day. A nice easy read it wall have you in tears one minute and laughing out loud the next.
